NC Software is proud to announce the immediate availability
of a free update for all Logbook Pro version 1 customers now
fully supporting Windows Vista's User Account Control
(UAC) and numerous other enhancements. The new update is
immediately available in a pre-release version - 1.10.31
Release Candidate 1 for you to test and report any
findings prior to this release going final in the next
several weeks.
Changes in this release:
- Windows Vista compliant - UAC is now fully supported
for those that wish to use it
- Significant performance improvements throughout
- Data files and other working files now use a folder
location of: /My Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1 (on
Vista: /Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1). Files are no
longer used in the C:\Program Files\Logbook Pro folder.
For those using Vista wishing to re-enable UAC should
MOVE their data file out of C:\Program Files\Logbook Pro
and into the new /My Documents folder area
- Import Wizard step 2 now has the checkbox defaulted
to CHECKED that the first column contains column
headings
- Fixed an issue in the Custom Report Template where
in the Jeppesen style the "Flight Simulator" column
heading did not print properly nor could it be changed
to more than one line, this also applies to the Instr
Appch column in the Premier/Old-World custom template
- Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 no longer required on
the PC for those using the Logbook Pro Pocket PC
Companion product
- Logbook Pro Pocket PC Companion refresh on Logbook
Pro shutdown now significantly improved, i.e. only takes
approximately 2-5 seconds
- Backing up to CD-ROM has never been supported, now
Logbook Pro will detect an attempt to backup to CD-ROM
and prevent you from continuing the backup. Backup
should be accomplished to your local hard drive (/My
Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1/Backup) and then you
can copy the .BAK file to any location you wish once
created
- Added two menu items under the File Menu:
File...Backup and File...Restore to help people find the
backup option. We still have many users failing to keep
a history of backups. The File..Archive area remains for
backwards compatibility (habit pattern)
- Changed File...Rename Logbook As to "File...MOVE
Logbook to..." as this is technically a move operation,
moving your data file from an old location to a new
location
- Added Help...Activate and Help...Deactivate menu
items. Help...Deactivate will remove licenses from your
computer so you can activate another computer
- Subscript out of Range "Error 9" displayed when an
invalid registration code is attempted such as APDL
version 4 codes which are in a different format
- Enhanced data structure update system when upgrading
Logbook Pro to prevent stagnating update processing
- Changing the A/C Type no longer changes the
corresponding Ident. For users using the PDA Wizard with
APDL sometimes need to update their A/C Types and would
lose their Ident in the process
- You can now press " T " to enter today's date in any
date column of the History area
- Graphs by Hours would show incorrect results if the
Options...Aircraft area has the Simulator checkbox
checked
- Progress/Wait dialog now displayed better in the
Split-Reports system to indicate processing still
ongoing
- Installer completely rewritten and is now much
faster, simpler, and Vista friendly
Installation Instructions:
- Backup your Logbook Pro data file
(File..Archive..Backup)
- Uninstall Logbook Pro for Windows from the Windows
Control Panel Add/Remove programs area (Programs &
Features for Vista users)
- Rename C:\Program Files\Logbook Pro to C:\Program
Files\Logbook Pro-OLD if it remains after uninstall
(which is fine)

Please report any findings, problems, likes/dislikes to
this
forum. I expect the release candidate to release, if all
testing goes well, mid to late August. Vista Users
that wish to re-enable User Account Control (UAC):
In Logbook Pro click Help...About Logbook Pro. At the
bottom of the dialog you'll see the location of your data
file. If your data file resides in the "Program Files"
folder then UAC will not be happy with you! In Logbook Pro
1.10.3x click the File...Move logbook to... option and move
your Logbook Pro data file to the newly created
/Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1 folder. Once this is
accomplished you can now turn on UAC from the Windows
Control Panel User Accounts area, reboot, then use Logbook
Pro normally.
