NC Software announces the immediate availability of version 1.9.8 for Logbook Pro PC & PDA Companions.  The response has been outstanding for the new FAR 121 functionality introduced in prior versions, and we've enhanced it nicely in version 1.9.8.  The new version brings exciting new features such as the ability to set a "Warning Hours" setting (in Options...Currency) which will color code summary information for easy identification of impending limits.  Reports are color coded with green, yellow, red indicators as well as the popup status area accessed by clicking the "Lookback" button on the bottom status bar of the program.  Easily track FAR 121.471, 122.481, 121.483, and 121.485 limits.  Complimented by Auman Software's Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook PDA Log for FAR 121 operators, we now ensure the most complete FAR 121 logbook solution available worldwide!

New in 1.9.8 we added support for our fellow FAR 135 aviators.  With our "always improving" motto we continue to take Logbook Pro to new limits to make flight logging as easy and accurate as possible.  We continue to improve Logbook Pro so you can concentrate on flying and not worry about bookkeeping.  With the new FAR 135 features, FAR Parts 135.265, 135.267, 135.269, and 135.271 time limitations are calculated instantly by clicking the Lookback button on the status bar or from the new FAR 135 Status Report (Reports..Miscellaneous..FAR 135 Status Report).  The FAR 135 functionality is identical to the FAR 121 features mentioned above adding the capability to set a "Warning Hours" zone (in Options...Currency) to identify approaching limitations and color coded indicators of green, yellow, and red for within limits, warning zone, and over limit respectively.

The PDA Companions have been enhanced in 1.9.8 to take advantage of the new FAR 121/135 features within the "Lookback" report area.  Click the 121 or 135 tab at the bottom to view your FAR 121/135 time summaries as of your last PDA sync with each row prefixed with the symbols identifying in limit, warning zone, or over limit.

One common request we've received over time is the ability to define custom text fields in custom report templates.  We are happy to announce this functionality is now available in 1.9.8.  When building custom report templates you will now see custom text fields available to set for the source data of the selected column.

Microsoft released ActiveSync 3.8 for the Pocket PC.  For Pocket PC users we highly recommend keeping ActiveSync updated with the latest version.  Microsoft continues to improve the synchronization features for Pocket PC's.  We hoped a bug introduced in 3.7 would be fixed but from our testing it was not.  The issue is when recreating the database connection sending the database to the Pocket PC ActiveSync should "overwrite" the existing database (as selected to do so in the configuration).  However, ActiveSync will still throw an error and not allow the database transfer to occur.  Therefore it is imperative to follow the Pocket PC uninstall procedures in the updated documentation to ensure Logbook Pro is completely removed from the Pocket PC prior to reinstalling.
 

1) Logbook Pro PDA Companions are bundled with the PC software and installed from the PDA Companions menu area with Logbook Pro.  The Logbook Pro PDA Companions are available for both Palm and Pocket PC devices and represent the Logbook Pro PC product look and feel, as well as customizations.  Logbook Pro PDA companions are licensed separately from the PC product for a small additional fee available from our Secure Online Store.  Logbook Pro key codes are in the format of "XX-YY-ZZ-N123456...."

2) We also sell a third party PDA product by Auman Software - Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook for Palm and Pocket PC's which is strictly a FAR 121 PDA log that sync's with Logbook Pro.  APDL as it's called, is NOT installed within Logbook Pro's menus but instead downloaded directly from Auman Software's web site at http://www.airlinelogbook.net after purchasing from our store.  We are a reseller of Auman Software's product as it sync's to Logbook Pro and compliments it nicely and meets the high standards required for third party products associated with Logbook Pro.  APDL license codes are in the format of "abcdefghzzz" etc.  If you purchased Auman Software's APDL product either stand-alone or as part of our bundle with Logbook Pro Professional, please install APDL from Auman Software's web site as indicated above.
